spring session starts april 15

We will begining our sessions with flytying until the fishing picks up. The flies we will tie will be:

  • the woolybugger- this fly is a streamer which mimics bait fish, and large nymphs. this is fished by casting down and across the stream, letting it swing down stream then stripping up.
  • the hare's ear nymph- a nymph with a bead head, can be used with an indicator or another dry fly.
  • The foam ant- this is a terestrial which is fished on the top of the water. this mimics ants and beetles.
  • The prime mouradian- This is a good all round dry fly.

Once we have a stash of flies to work with we will begin fishing.

I will be gone the first two weeks of May. so the class will fish independently. In earl June we will take a trip to Mike's cabin and fish the Au Sable and Rifle.
