Flies for Gallup Park

Tuesday and Thursday are fly fishing days. I tied a few flies to try on the sunfish. Since this is fall and there is still a lot of insect activity we will be using some topwater terrestrials
the foam ant, foam frog, the Prime Mouradian, and for subsurface a peacock hurl nymph.

Argo to Gallup park trip

We canoed from Argo Dam to the Gallop park empoundment. This amazing trip runs through the center of Ann Arbor. We were traveling during the 5 o'clock rush but you couldn't hear traffic. It was a perfect fall day with colors. We saw a couple of blue herons, ducks, fish rising and turtles swimming. We are really lucky to live in a city which has created this natural corridor through the urban area. The astonishing thing is we only saw two fishermen on the banks and no one wading. Also I think we were the only ones cameoing at that time.

canoeing !

We will canoe Gallup park. On tues OCT 2
Tuesday we will leave CHS right at 3:30 to go to Gallup. There we will get instruction on all aspects of canoeing. Paddling, Safety, entering and exiting the canoe, directions ...... We'll paddle around Gallup pond and see what happens to a Dam empoundment.
On Thursday Oct 4 we will again go to Gallup and be taken upstream to Argo Pond (another Dam empoundment) and will canoe downstream through Ann Arbor to Gallup. We'll have to portage once and we'll view what happens to an urban waterway. This canoe trip may take 2 hours so plan on getting home a little later on thurs.
